About the Event

Salary negotiation. Negotiation of contracts. Negotiation of any kind. Because you have value, and because it's time you articulate it both to yourself and to others.

It's on our minds always, as a place for us to grow, as a place for us to notice bias, and as a place for us to strengthen our own confidence that we bring unique value to our work and to our field.

Now, more than ever, this is hard. We have no sense that our organizations, schools, camps and congregations will be able to support salary increases, and no sense that our asks will be useful or effective. At the same time, we've worked to pivot in our roles, meeting our learners' needs in this challenging moment, creating new programs, serving our communities, and crafting educational innovations along the way. We want to protect our interests, and at the same time we are balancing an awareness that the world is changing around us.

Together, we'll explore a process for identifying the unique, inspiring, and powerful value you bring you your work and using that value and helpful data to begin your negotiations. While negotiation is in some cases about money and salary increase, it's also about appreciation and recognition, for your employers and for you, and we'll think about both. We'll bring together tools and skills gathered from across the not-for-profit world and from negotiation experts, from the business world, and from advocates who engage in negotiation with Fortune-500 companies and major universities. And we'll contemplate the ways in which we approach negotiation when we're negotiating with rabbis, executive directors and laypeople, which may be different from in other organizations that have HR functions overseeing these process.

Who is this for?

If you're going to be negotiating yourself,

If you'll be serving as a mediator or negotiator for others.

If you supervise others who will be negotiating and you'd like to support them.

People of all genders who engage in negotiation at work, at home and in relationships, every day

Actually, it's great for everyone. But we're biased!!
